Stay in control of every conversation.
End early, protect your identity, and report serious behaviour.
Most conversations may be ordinary and positive, but anonymous or pseudonymous communication carries real risks. Email verification and technical safeguards do not replace your judgment.
1. Five essential rules
- Never share passwords, verification codes, financial information, government identifiers, home addresses, or private login details.
- Do not display or send intimate content. You cannot control screenshots or external recordings.
- Leave immediately if someone pressures, threatens, sexualizes, manipulates, or makes you uncomfortable.
- Do not move to another platform merely because a stranger pressures you to do so.
- Report credible threats, exploitation, scams, grooming, or serious harassment.
2. What university verification does—and does not—mean
Verification confirms that a person received a code at an accepted university email address. It helps separate university communities and makes large-scale disposable-account abuse harder.
It does not confirm a person’s displayed details, legal identity, age, current enrolment, location, intentions, or trustworthiness. Some institutional domains may also be available to staff, alumni, affiliates, or other account holders. Treat every match as an unknown person.
3. Protecting your identity
- Use optional profile fields sparingly. A combination of program, year, residence, club, schedule, and personal story can identify you even without a name.
- Avoid sharing your phone number, personal email, social accounts, class timetable, workplace, residence, or live location.
- Never open unexpected files or scan QR codes from a stranger.
- Do not send money, gift cards, cryptocurrency, banking details, or authentication codes.
- Assume messages can be copied and video can be externally recorded.
- If meeting offline, use a busy public place, tell someone you trust, arrange your own transportation, and do not leave drinks unattended.
4. Video-chat safety
Check what is visible behind you before enabling your camera. Hide mail, IDs, access cards, screens, windows, photographs, addresses, and location clues. Use headphones when privacy matters and mute or stop whenever needed.
Video and audio use encrypted WebRTC and are not recorded by toblues. Media normally travels peer-to-peer, but may pass through a toblues TURN relay when a direct connection is unavailable. Direct connections may reveal network information to the other participant. The absence of platform recording cannot prevent the other person from using screen-recording software or another device.
Nudity, sexual activity, unwanted sexual exposure, coercion, and sexual requests involving anyone under 18 are prohibited. Stop and report immediately.
5. Conduct that is not allowed
Prohibited behaviour includes:
- grooming, child exploitation, sextortion, trafficking, or child sexual abuse material;
- nudity, sexual activity, unwanted sexual content, or non-consensual recording and distribution;
- threats, stalking, harassment, hate, discrimination, blackmail, extortion, or doxxing;
- impersonation, deceptive deepfakes, age or affiliation misrepresentation, and social engineering;
- fraud, phishing, scams, malware, credential theft, unlawful sales, or money requests;
- spam, advertising, scraping, bots, coordinated abuse, false reports, or attempts to overload or bypass the service; and
- any illegal conduct or violation of another person’s privacy, intellectual property, or safety.
See the complete Terms of Service. “It was a joke,” anonymity, or apparent participation by another user does not excuse harmful or unlawful conduct.
6. How reporting works
Use the Report control during a conversation or immediately after it. Select the closest reason: sexual content, harassment or hate, threats or violence, spam or scam, underage safety concern, or other.
A report may include the room identifier, time, chat mode, pseudonymous participant hashes, selected reason, available text transcript, and optional profile context. Reports should be truthful and made for safety—not retaliation, jokes, or manipulating another user.
If the report interface fails, email toblues@noonmatches.com with the approximate time, university, chat mode, and a concise description. Do not email illegal imagery or unnecessarily redistribute intimate material.
7. Moderation and retained context
Authorized administrators can review reports and retained chat records to investigate safety incidents, coordinated abuse, technical attacks, and Terms violations. The newest 100 completed chats are generally retained, subject to message and size ceilings; older archives are automatically removed. Reports and relevant evidence may be retained longer where reasonably necessary.
Possible actions include restricting access, preserving evidence, correlating repeated reports, contacting affected users, improving technical controls, or disclosing information when permitted or required by law. Moderation is imperfect and may be delayed. A lack of visible action is not approval of reported conduct.
8. Emergencies and serious harm
For suspected online child exploitation, grooming, or child sexual abuse material, report through the platform and contact law enforcement or Cybertip.ca as appropriate. Do not download, save, forward, or redistribute illegal material merely to document it.
For threats of suicide or self-harm, encourage immediate local help and contact emergency or crisis services when there is an imminent risk. Do not promise secrecy when someone may be in danger.
9. Verification and account security
- Never share a six-digit verification code or saved session.
- Only enter codes on toblues.net.
- Ignore messages claiming to be staff that ask for passwords, money, or authentication codes.
- Clear site data on a shared device when finished.
- Report suspected account misuse or vulnerabilities privately by email rather than exploiting or publishing them.
Rate limits, payload ceilings, connection limits, encrypted transport, hashed tokens, restricted administration, and automatic pruning help protect the service, but no Internet system is perfectly secure.
